eBook Pedagogy LLC ("we", "our", "us") operates the ebookpedagogy.com website and the DeepMargin application. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Website

We collect only the information you provide voluntarily through the contact form: your name, email address, institution, role, department, area of interest, and message. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

DeepMargin App

DeepMargin stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Your library (the books you add and their metadata)
• Reading positions, bookmarks, highlights, and notes

When you select text and request an annotation, the selected text, surrounding context, chapter title, and book title are sent to our annotation service to generate a scholarly annotation. In a PDF, an image of the selected area is sent as well. No other personal data is included in this request.

If you choose to share a note with other readers, or report a concern about an annotation, that note or report is sent to our server.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Contact form submissions are used solely to respond to your inquiry.
• Annotation requests are used to generate and return a scholarly annotation.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

Our annotation service uses the following services to generate responses:

• The Model — the artificial-intelligence service that generates the scholarly annotations. The request described in section 1 is processed by The Model to produce the annotation.
• Tavily — to perform web searches relevant to the selected text. Subject to their Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months.

5. Your Rights

You may request deletion of any data we hold about you by contacting techsupport@eBookPedagogy.com.
